This is a pretty random topic, but I've been thinking about it alot lately. I'm the kind of person that immediately makes emotional connections with everyone, every place, and everything. I have a pretty impressive long-term memory. I remember everyone I meet, what day it was, what they were wearing, etc. Not in a creepy kind of way, that's just how my brain works. I'm even better with smells, they trigger my memory even more. For example, I still remember the smell of this perfume my mom used to spray on me when I was 3 or 4, and I smelled something like it the other day and suddenly I was remembering all the times Monica and I would go into her bathroom to put on Mom's "smelly", followed by any other time where I smelled something similar. It was so strange because I hadn't thought about that in years. And yet the image was still so vivid to me, I remembered exactly what I was wearing and where in the bathroom I was standing. Yes, I have a photographic memory as well.
The point I'm trying to make is that because I feel so connected with everyone and everything, it makes it really difficult when change is to come. Especially this time of year, when school ends and people move. I can get pretty depressed. Scratch that, I do get pretty depressed. The people out here are amazing. They've become so important to me that I can't imagine my life without them, much like I can't imagine living without an arm or leg. I'm sure alot of people feel that way to a point, but I think it has a harder effect on me. I think for the most part I do a pretty good job of holding in my emotions and thoughts around people. I mean, yes, you might see me sad one day. And if something's bothering me, I'm pretty good at finding someone to talk to about it. But it's just so hard for me to forget things, absolutely everything triggers a memory and reminds me of something else. It's something I'm working on. I'm trying to not get super attached to people and things so that it's easier for me to move on. It's difficult, but I'll get there.
